Garden Season Begins
Hold a clean-up and soil preparation day in the garden. All gardeners are to complete a 2008 DUG sign up Release. Garden leaders return forms to DUG to maintain compliance with property owners and the City of Denver. Mail forms to: Denver Urban Gardens, 3377 Blake Street, Suite 113, Denver, CO 80205.

Annual Garden Leader Symposium
April 10th, 5:30-8:00pm, Denver Botanic Gardens, Mitchell Hall
This is a great chance for DUG garden leaders to meet and greet fellow garden leaders and to gather best practices for the upcoming season.

Community Shopping Benefit
April 19th, Ten Thousand Villages, 2626 E. 3rd Ave
Celebrate Earth Day by supporting DUG during a community shopping benefit on Saturday, April 19th! Ten percent of all sales that day will be donated to DUG in support of their mission to build community through neighborhood gardens. Your purchase will contribute to healthy, productive stewardship of our earth, while also supporting countless artisans around the world. Plus, we will be highlighting several delicious dishes from our Simply in Season cookbook, which emphasizes cooking with fresh, local produce. Come one, come all!

Water turn-on at community gardens will begin after this date. Garden Leaders will be notified when the water is on.

Fundraiser for the Somali Bantu Farming Council/DeLaney Farm
May 4th
The United Nations Associations, Young Professionals (UNA YP) will host the event at the Denver Center for International Studies. Get to know the Somali Bantu culture through storytelling, basket weaving with the elders, drumming, traditional food and more.

Free Transplants Arrive
Transplants ordered this February will be available mid-month. Check local community pick up center for dates.

Free Public Compost Classes Start
Composting is good for your yard and garden, good for the environment, easy to do and fun! Compost can retain 100% of its weight in water and is an important component of gardening in a drought. All classes are held at the Denver Backyard Composting Demonstration Site located in at the Gove Community Garden at E. 13th Ave. and Colorado Blvd. Click here to register.
