Ekar Farm and Community Garden
Ekar Farm and Community Garden hosts 50 community garden plots for a diverse community in the Lowry neighborhood and beyond. Alongside the Community Garden, Ekar Farm is a volunteer farm growing thousands of pounds of produce for the Jewish Family Service Weinberg Food Pantry. 1200 volunteers joined us in 2010, their first year, to help the garden grow.
The farm and garden are inspired by Jewish values, offering participants the opportunity to learn about the connections of judaism and the growing cycle. An interesting twist is that the farm and garden make an effort to get the work of growing in 6 days of the week, leaving the garden rest Friday Night and Saturday.
