nature.  Most of the gardeners at Helping Hands are elementary to high-school aged youth that live in the community.  Recently, Helping Hands won a grant from the National Gardening Association in honor of the work done within the garden.  With the money, they were able to purchase tulip bulbs to create a bright spring display of color.  In addition, the children of the garden plant herbs, vegetables, pumpkins and watermelon.

At the end of each summer, Helping Hands throws a community celebration inviting community members to come to the garden and listen to a variety of local youth talent including a mariachi band, youth sign language choir and drum group.  The farmer’s market also helps to bring the Commerce City community together by creating a forum for local people to buy locally and connect with one another.
