Where are they now?

Julie Battaglia, Farm Manager, 1997-2000

Julie is a science teacher in Kansas City and enjoys gardening in her spare time.

Brad Farnsworth, 1997

Brad has been an account manager in electronic sales for three years.  He lives in Oklahoma, and gardens as a hobby.

Corrie Knapp, Farm Co-Manager, 1997-1999, DUG Program Development and Publications Coordinator, 2005

Corrie is pursuing her Master's Degree at Colorado State University.

Sember Weinman, 1997

Sember is teaching middle school in the South Bronx, New York.  She would like to start a mural painting business (her work currently hangs in the DUG office).   

Melissa Talmage, 1998

Melissa is a junior at CU Boulder, studying mechanical engineering. 

Jessica Deelo, 1998

Jessica has worked with community/school gardens in Wisconsin and Philidelphia.  As an AmeriCorps volunteer, she ran an organic farm in Vermont.  She is now working on an MA in agriculture at UC Davis. 

Michelle Deprenger-Levin, 1998

Michelle is working at the Denver Botanic Gardens in the Research Department.  She has a special interest in native plants.

Becky Maden, Farm Manager, 1999-2001

Becky is a Farm Manager at Intervale, an urban farm in Burlington, Vermont.  Intervale was reclaimed from dump land 13 years ago and has grown to 400 acres.   

Mimi Mather, 2000

Mimi is working as a landscape architect in Boulder, CO.  She creates many designs for national parks. 

Greg Moon, 2000

Greg is a receptionist at Littleton Hospital.  He is eager to start gardening at Stebbins Heights again, after T-Rex is finished. 

Rosalind May, 2001

Rosalind is a grad student at CU Denver, studying elementary education.  She is also student teaching, and doing research on community gardens for UC Health Sciences Center. 

Beth Kivett, DUG Program Coordinator

Beth works in parks and recreation for the city of Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Tiffany Bucknam, 2001

Tiffany is a new mom, and is currently at home with her baby.  She has a MA in Social Work from DU, and is interested in community development.   

Leslie Ryan, 2001

Leslie is an economic development volunteer in Peace Corps Ukraine.  She works at a library/ community center, where she is creating a community garden and nature trail.

Jan Velilla, 2001

Jan works on the “Full Belly Farm” in California.  She is a farmer and former AmeriCorps volunteer.

Laura Lavid, 2001- 2004

Laura is DUG’s Program Coordinator.  She is working on a MA in non-profit management at Regis. 

Jon Najmelski, 2002-2003

Jon has been a 6th grade science teacher at Rishel Middle School since leaving DUG.  Next year he will start teaching at Denver’s East High School.    

Cara Maple, 2004

Cara is doing office work at a small computer school in Texas.

Kathryn Acheson, 2004

Kathryn is DUG's Communities Initiatives Assistant. She is working with the Thriving Communities Initiative and at DeLaney Community Farm.

Erin DeLargy, 2004

Erin recently graduated with a double major in psychology and art, and is considering a career in therapy. 

Lisa Knoblauch, 2005

Lisa is DUG's Communities Initiative Coordinator.

Rebecca Knerl, 2005

Rebecca is teaching English as a Second Language at DPT Business School.  She is interested in community development and writing.    

Michael Wisth, 2005

Michael recently received a job in Development at a local nonprofit.  He also will continue to work with the homeless population in Boulder County.
