Lowell garden is located on land that was once the stomping grounds for the Barnum and Bailey circus elephants.

 Why We Love Our Garden:

 Community Events:

In the 1900’s, Mr. Barnum owned much of the land that is currently the Barnum neighborhood.  In addition to providing a place to graze his elephants, the land included many orchards and gardens.  This soil is fertile and ready to plant!

This community garden is in partnership with Denver Parks, and occupies an area along the Weir gulch greenway.  It provides a community passageway connecting the surrounding community with this strip of open space.

Although the veteran gardeners are primarily seniors, young adults and people with disabilities have increased their participation in recent years.  New garden leader Cheryl Korkos is excited about upcoming opportunities to bring disabled people, families in need, and neighborhood youth together in the garden. Lowell St Garden is a growing community, excited to welcome new gardeners in!
