One of the oldest community gardens in Denver, Shoshone continues to offer a place for community members to come together, learn from one another and celebrate their differences.

Come discover one of the oldest community gardens in Denver, originally built by refugees from Laos, Vietnam and Afghanistan.  When locals and newcomers first started gardening together here, they each saw some very strange sights. Asian gardeners were mixing all their seeds together and scattering them on raised beds!  The Americans were actually getting down on their knees and planning seeds individually in the earth!  Everyone had a lot to learn from each other, and they still do.  This is more than just a garden- it’s a piece of Denver’s history.

Shoshone garden also offers a medicinal garden, open for the community to use. With lots of fresh supplies, those who tend the Shoshone medicinal garden have an alternative to Western medicine.  Over the years, lots of time and love have gone into this garden, and it continues to grow.

This year, Shoshone will be the site of our 20th anniversary workday.  We will create new pathways, and add a courtyard and pavilion.
