Healthy Bodies, Healthy Gardens

School Garden Curriculum

Our seasonal approach to teaching bridges gardening, nutrition and science using standards-aligned lessons for the elementary school classroom and garden. Each lesson includes applicable Colorado Academic Standards with suggested extensions and modifications. DUG’s curriculum provides experiential opportunities for student inquiry and investigation into the health, earth and life sciences, math, literacy and social science.  Each lesson plan is densely packed to fill a one-hour class session with discussion, hands-on experiential learning and journaling. All of the lessons include a healthy, classroom and kid-tested recipe that reinforces the seasonal topic.

Each lesson contains:

  • Key Messages
  • Applicable Colorado Academic Standards
  • Materials Needed
  • Instructional Process
  • Modifications and Extensions
  • Recipe that reinforces the lesson

Please select the Colorado Academic Standard area, season or grade level to download applicable lessons.
