Description

Anythink Commerce City Library Community Garden is an oasis in an urban setting, providing beauty and tranquility amidst train tracks and pavement. The garden acts as a logical counterpart to the Anythink Commerce City Library, providing a place where growing minds can continue expanding, and where tools for health, such as fresh produce and physical activity, can be readily found. Library staff are among the gardeners and on the steering committee, with all participants contributing to general garden maintenance. The garden continues to improve and expand more and more each year and gardeners make a point to donate extra food to the library for kids and community members to take when needed. Deborah Hogue, the library branch manager, was one of the people who first thought “Libraries and community gardens- what a perfect combination. Let’s start a garden.”
