Description
The Charles Hay Community Garden was established in 2011 in partnership with the Tri-County Health Department, the City of Englewood and Englewood Public Schools as a hands-on tool to bring plant-based learning and nutrition education into classrooms, promote teamwork and strengthen the community. Community gardeners, parents and teachers volunteer their time to tend to the school garden over the summer and give lessons to the students during the school year. It provides many teaching opportunities including worm composting, the study of plant and seed parts, healthy classroom snacks and recipe tastings
