Description
Located in Congress Park near the intersection of 11th Avenue and Elizabeth Street, the Denver Botanic Gardens Community Garden features fruit trees, community herb plots and an impressive compost program, with 90% of the garden’s scraps being composted. They have three beehives as well as a teaching plot for new gardeners. Operating since 1976, this garden has a very strong commitment to donating food to programs such as SAME Café, Denver’s first non-profit restaurant that allows diners to pay what they are able or provide volunteer work in exchange for a meal. This community garden is open to the public but you must be a member of Denver Botanic Gardens to join.
