Eaton Senior Community Garden at The Residences

Address
333 S. Eaton St.

Established
2011

The Eaton Senior Community Garden at The Residences is a treasured gathering place that provides the opportunity to cultivate and foster gardens and relationships with the community. Most gardeners average in age at about 80 and the garden gives them an opportunity to get out of their homes for a bit and get their hands in the dirt as if they were in their own home. It works as therapy for mental health issues and other stresses that come along with old age.

The garden has many benefits that come along with it other than growing food. There are 10 raised beds, which serve independent apartments as well as assisted living residents. Some of the food is used in the on-site dining program. A sharing basket has been organized to help distribute the abundance of each season’s harvest.
