Description

Uniquely situated between a church, the local health clinic, and neighborhood recreation center, GlobevilleSpring Clean Up Day at Globeville Community Garden Community Garden has 20 plots which are visible from the street and to people who travel between the recreation center and the surrounding homes. The garden is supported by a dedicated group of local residents, nearby employees, and Denver youth who represent families, individuals, English and Spanish speakers alike.  A special connection exists with Clínica Tepeyac, who provides water for the garden and helps gardeners plan for the yearly Harvest Festival.  One of Clínica’s clients, who is also an artist, created beautiful, tile mosaic welcome signs and bench-backs for the garden.  These mosaics add a unique sense of community and organic process to the Globeville Community Garden.

The garden is also supported by a great group of youth and their leaders from the Division of Youth Corrections who spend time in the garden a few times a week to help turn soil, plant and manage weeds while learning the process of gardening.  Support also comes in the form of neighbors who keep an eye on the garden from across the street to help keep everyone’s harvest safe.

The Globeville Community Garden thrives because of the community that is within it and that surrounds it!
