DUG’s Grow a Garden program connects individuals and community groups* to seeds, seedlings, and education to get growing at home or in a DUG garden.

In previous years, Grow a Garden was an income-qualifying program. However, beginning in 2020, the program has expanded to be accessible to all individuals and community groups* alike that wish to grow food.

*Group applications are for those applying on behalf of groups such as schools, classrooms, educational, human service or faith-based organizations and community garden donation plots.

How To Participate in the Grow a Garden Program:

1) Select a Grow a Garden Kit from the options below.

All seeds are non-GMO + organic from Botanical Interests and all seedlings are organic and grown through Blooma Farms. Please note there are no substitutions of different seeds or seedlings available. (If you’re looking for specific items that are not part of our Grow Kits, join us for our Spring Plant Sale!).

All Garden Kits come with a Plant Care Guide that includes sample layouts for planting.

2) Select your preferred pick-up location.

We partner with 16 local organizations to meet our participants in the areas they work and live. Check out the map below to find a Grow a Garden pick-up location near you.

Distribution week for all Grow a Garden Kits will happen the week of May 15th-20th. All kits must be picked up during this timeframe.

3) Pay what you can with our sliding-scale pricing.

In order to make the program accessible to all, our pay-what-you-can sliding scale allows participants to choose what they can afford to pay using our suggested program fee of $60 per Garden Kit as a guide.

Choose what’s right for you to pay–whether less or more or than the suggested program fee. No one will be turned away for inability to pay.
