2025 marks DUG’s 40th birthday!
We’ve been a staple in metro Denver since the 1970’s (learn more about our origins here!) but officially became a 501(c)(3) in 1985 which gave us access to nonprofit funding and increased our credibility!
With 40 years under our belt, we’ve been able to accomplish a lot. From stewarding over 200 community gardens and food forests to expanding into every neighborhood across 7 counties in metro Denver, we’ve grown beyond our expectations. We have been able to support hundreds of thousands of community members grow their own fresh and healthy food, gain the skills to garden on the Front Range, and build their own community in Denver.

In honor of our 40th birthday and decades of impact in metro Denver, we’re raising $40,000. Supporting this campaign means leaving a lasting legacy in our community, regenerating urban green spaces, and showing up where it counts most.

This whole year is cause for celebration and we invite our community to join us!
We invite you to celebrate with us at our 40th Birthday Celebration to pick up a delicious cupcake, pick up a free legacy sticker, and grab seed packets for this growing season. Visit us on Wednesday, April 30th any time from 4 to 6pm… but we recommend getting there early to snag a treat!
