Tree Keepers help steward our growing food forests so all may enjoy
Becoming a DUG Tree Keeper doesn’t require any previous experience with taking care of trees; you will be training in pruning, pest management, and general tree health.
Commitment & Expectations:
- At least a two-year commitment
- 30-60 minutes of work per week, on average
- Work collaboratively with at least one other Tree Keeper at your food forest site
Support & Training:
- A bucket of materials
- Year-round DUG-led workshops and external training offered by The Giving Grove
- DUG staff volunteer support
‘Food forests‘ are one of the most ancient forms of land stewardship, and we are expanding the idea of what an urban garden can be by planting food forests across metro Denver.

Open Tree Keeper roles are marked by the green tree marker; blue indicates the site does not need additional Tree Keepers at the moment.
