Welcome 2025 DUG Corps!

By March 5, 2025March 21st, 2025DUG Team, News

We are thrilled to welcome our newest DUG Corps cohort, Molly, Julia, & Joshua

For the past few years, DUG has been fortunate enough to work with Colorado State University to support the placement of AmeriCorps members during their service year. Over the years, they have supported the construction of garden infrastructure (like rain barrels and solar panels), organized volunteer days in our growing spaces, and executed incredible educational events to bring gardening knowledge to our community.

This year, you can expect them to dive deeper into DUG’s work to ensure our community is supported from the ground up. They will be closely supervised by DUG staff to ensure they can execute at a high level and grow professionally in preparation for their next career step.

Meet Molly, DUG’s Gardens & Volunteer Support member

Molly will be supervised by Taylor, DUG’s Garden Projects Manager.

Molly grew up in Denver with a love for the natural world and being outside. She received her bachelor’s degree in communication and political science and has since spent her time as an environmental advocate and farmer. She believes in growing food as a form of resistance, community building, spiritual connection, and climate action. In her free time, Molly can be found sewing, collaging, thrifting, doing yoga, and reading. Molly is thrilled to join the gardens team as a DUG Corps member.

Molly’s favorite vegetable is snap pea!

Meet Julia, DUG’s Food Access Support member

Julia will be supervised by Shay, DUG’s Senior Manager of Food Access Programs.

Julia grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and spent the last few years studying in San Francisco where she got her bachelor’s degree in international studies, focusing on sustainable development and environmental justice, and minors in environmental studies and French. During her time in school, she explored different corners of our food system through working at a grocery store and a farmers market, assisting with the university food pantry, a food recovery network, conducting her own research on college students’ activism in food justice, and exploring a network of community gardens around the city. Julia is passionate about food sovereignty, food justice and its connection to art and community building, and intersectional environmentalism. In her free time, Julia enjoys block printing, zine-making, all things music, baking, traveling, spending time with her dog, going to the movies, birdwatching, and learning new languages!

Meet Joshua, DUG’s Education Support member

Joshua will be supervised by Kristi, DUG’s Community Education Manager.

Originally from the bayou, now in the plains, dreaming of the mountains. Passionate about nature, social justice, music, travel, and theology. Has lived in Louisiana, Mississippi, Colorado, Georgia and also Costa Rica and Colombia. Enjoys connecting with local communities and understanding how to best support and uplift the people within them.
