Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides access, skills, and resources for people to grow healthy food in community and regenerate urban green spaces. We’re working towards a sustainable urban future where people are deeply and directly connected to the earth, each other, and the food they eat.

Current Opportunities
Community Liaison & Garden Care Associate
The Community Liaison and Garden Care Associate (Seasonal) will play an active role in reactivating DUG’s Jardín de Esperanza Community Garden and Maxwell Food Forest, assisting with summer school-community garden care. We are looking for a flexible, self-starter individual who enjoys working in a dynamic team environment, is passionate about effective and equitable approaches to learning and teaching, and embraces the value of community and cultivating relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds and lived experiences.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Reliable transportation or personal vehicle (transportation stipend provided)
- A working knowledge of gardening and permaculture, or a desire to learn.
- Comfortable with outreach techniques including phone calls, door-to-door soliciting, and prompt email communication
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Familiarity with East Denver and North Aurora
- People of all ages–including youth over 16 years old–are encouraged to apply
Compensation: The rate for this position is $23 per hour, with an anticipated 20 hours per week from the start date until the end of October. Benefits include an additional $500 transportation stipend, usage of empty garden plots as desired and all cultivated goods produced during employment period.
Employment Range: The desired start date is July 22, 2024 and planned end date is November 1, 2024.
