Denver Urban Gardens (DUG) is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides access, skills, and resources for people to grow healthy food in community and regenerate urban green spaces. We’re working towards a sustainable urban future where people are deeply and directly connected to the earth, each other, and the food they eat.

At DUG, we strive to promote JEDI principles across our organization. One example is through our Change Committee, which is a group of staff members and community members who meet monthly to discuss various topics such as accessibility in the gardens, language justice, and youth engagement.

Current Opportunities

Contract Youth Educator

We are seeking a Contract Youth Educator who is experienced in youth education and has a passion for sharing the wonder of nature with kids. The Youth Educator will be an integral part of the Youth Education Team, delivering DUG programs for ECE – 5th graders at schools and youth organizations across metro Denver. This role will also support in the creation and management of educational materials for youth programs.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Comfort working with kids of differing abilities and backgrounds, with knowledge and
    experience in trauma-informed learning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to respectfully work with and interact with
    diverse community members
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of flexibility and adaptability
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to carry materials (20 pounds or less)
  • Ability to work occasionally outdoors and some weekends and occasional evenings
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous
    development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
