FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Volunteer grants are a specific type of corporate giving program that supplies monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer.

Volunteer grants essentially provide “free money” for nonprofits and schools, allowing organizations to drastically increase the ROI of their volunteer programs.

Organizations typically have limited information on the companies their volunteers work for. At the same time, the volunteers themselves often lack awareness of their companies’ volunteer grant availability and eligibility criteria. If supporters are never made aware of their employers’ giving programs, they won’t know to complete the grant request process, and their employers will be unable to supply the appropriate funding.

Step #1: An individual volunteers with a nonprofit or school, like DUG.

Step #2: The individual determines their volunteer grant eligibility.

Step #3: The individual accesses and submits the appropriate forms to their employer.

Step #4: The individual’s employer reviews the volunteer grant request.

Step #5: The individual’s employer approves the request and grants funding to the organization.
