Last week, we celebrated with and honored DUG volunteers at Meow Wolf.

It’s the end of the gardening season, when the plots have been built and the trees have been planted. That’s when DUG’s community, including our 1,500+ volunteers, can take a break for a few months before getting their hands dirty next season.

Before we embark on another successful year, we wanted to celebrate long-time, recurring, and dedicated volunteers with a morning of delicious food, lively conversation, and interactive art. This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Event was kindly hosted by Meow Wolf in their downtown Denver space. Our attendees enjoyed a gluten-free and vegan breakfast taco bar by Buscuits & Berries (did you know that Creighton, DUG’s Senior Director of Gardens & Food Forests, used to work there?), fun artsy activities for the kids, and then celebrated our volunteer honorees.

The program ended with a raffle of gardening-related prizes, including honey from DUG garden hives, sun hats from The North Face, and gift cards to the 2026 Plant Sale!

Thank you to all of our volunteers for everything you do. Your countless hours and generosity ensure we’re all able to cultivate a greener, more resilient Denver.
