At DUG, we know that building a garden is about more than what grows in the soil; it’s about the people who show up, pitch in, and help bring a shared vision to life.
For the past seven years, Tito’s Handmade Vodka has done exactly that through their Block to Block program—rolling up their sleeves alongside DUG staff, volunteers, and community partners to help build and care for garden spaces across Denver.
A Partnership Rooted in Action
Since the beginning of our partnership, Tito’s Block to Block has been grounded in something simple but powerful: showing up.
Year after year, their team has joined us on the ground, hauling materials, building infrastructure, and contributing to the physical spaces that make community gardening possible. These aren’t symbolic contributions; they’re tangible, lasting investments in neighborhoods and the people who grow in them.
And after seven years, that impact continues to grow.
Building Toward Something Bigger at Glenbrook
This month, the Tito’s team partnered with CoBank employees for a hands-on volunteer day at Glenbrook Community Garden & Food Forest, one of DUG’s newest and most exciting spaces. Located next to the DPS Glenbrook Greenhouse, it offers the area an additional opportunity for food access and sovereignty.
Together, volunteers:
- Built and cleared garden pathways
- Moved and spread gravel
- Helped prepare the site for future planting and community use
Each task brought Glenbrook one step closer to becoming a fully realized space where neighbors can grow food, connect, and experience the benefits of green space in their own community.
It’s work that can be physically demanding, but it’s also deeply rewarding.
Why Corporate Volunteer Days Matter
Projects like Glenbrook don’t happen overnight. They’re the result of many hands, many days, and many partners working toward a shared goal.
Corporate volunteer groups play a key role in that process. They help us:
- Accelerate garden builds and improvements
- Expand what’s possible within a single season
- Bring new people into the work of community-based food systems
Just as importantly, these volunteer days create opportunities for connection—between coworkers, with the land, and with the broader mission of building a more equitable and resilient food system.
7 Years In, and Still Growing
Reaching the seven-year mark with Tito’s Block to Block is more than a milestone—it’s a reflection of what sustained partnership can look like.
It’s showing up consistently.
It’s doing the work, side by side.
It’s investing in spaces that will serve communities for years to come.
We’re grateful for the continued support from Tito’s Handmade Vodka and partners like CoBank, and for everyone who has contributed their time and energy along the way.
