DUG is proud to announce the theme for this year’s Gather ‘Round celebration and community fundraiser: Urban Garden Cowboy.
Rooted in Colorado’s rich agricultural history and inspired by the resilience of communities across the Front Range, this year’s theme honors both where we come from and where we’re headed. Urban Garden Cowboy celebrates the people who continue to cultivate connection, food, and belonging in an ever-changing climate, from longtime gardeners and farmers to neighbors growing food in the heart of the city.
Colorado has always been shaped by the land. Generations of growers, ranchers, and stewards have learned how to adapt to dry conditions, unpredictable weather, and limited water resources. Today, as communities across the region face increasing drought, rising temperatures, and climate uncertainty, urban gardening and local food systems have become more important than ever.
Long before Denver became the city it is today, Indigenous communities across the region practiced forms of dryland farming, seed stewardship, and land care adapted to Colorado’s semi-arid climate. The Urban Garden Cowboy theme recognizes the deep history of cultivating food and community in challenging environments, and honors the many traditions, cultures, and communities that continue shaping how we grow in the West today. As climate conditions evolve, those lessons in resilience, conservation, and collective stewardship remain more important than ever.
Gather ‘Round 2026 will celebrate the creativity and determination that define Colorado communities, the ability to grow something meaningful despite challenges, and the understanding that resilience is built together.
The Urban Garden Cowboy theme blends western heritage with modern sustainability, highlighting the connection between our agricultural roots and the future of climate-conscious growing in cities like Denver. Guests can expect an evening inspired by Colorado landscapes, community gardens, local food, storytelling, music, and the people helping cultivate greener neighborhoods across the city.
As DUG continues to expand community gardens, food forests, youth education, and climate resilience programming, Gather ‘Round serves as an opportunity to bring supporters together around a shared vision for a healthier, more connected Denver.
This year’s celebration will also spotlight partnerships with local vendors, artists, makers, and community organizations who help make Denver’s food and cultural landscape so vibrant. DUG is currently collaborating with community partners to create an immersive experience that reflects the spirit of Urban Garden Cowboy, with more announcements coming soon.
Ticket sales for Gather ‘Round 2026 officially open on July 1, 2026. Supporters are encouraged to save the date and prepare for an unforgettable evening celebrating Colorado community, resilience, and growth.
