A much-awaited annual DUG event, Summer Plant Sale did not disappoint. Unlike our Spring Plant Sale, our Summer Plant Sale focuses on preparing Front Range farmers with resources & seedlings ideal for fall gardening. For many, there is a misconception that gardening in our 6a zone means a short growing season… but there are many ways to both extend the growing season and grow new plants in late summer and early fall before the first frost.
At Summer Plant sale, over 350 community members pre-ordered garlic, picked up cover crops, and stayed for various educational workshops. A truly unique event, Summer Plant Sale is one of the only opportunities for Front Range gardeners to prepare and implement fall gardening practices. DUG’s goal is to continue spreading hyperlocal gardening education so that all who want to grow healthy and fresh food can.
Moreover, Summer Plant Sale offers an avenue to promote food access in Denver metro by offering low-cost seeds + seedlings for all attendees. For SNAP recipients, we also offered 5 free seeds/seedlings per household. Explore DUG’s Food Access Programs!
