It is both heartbreaking and perplexing that there are hungry people in the city. Food is everywhere, and in abundance: we are blessed with fully stocked grocery store shelves, a great restaurant community, and farmers’ markets all over the metro area. Why then, are there people in our community who do not have enough to eat?
Hunger, in both developed and developing nations, is tied to poverty and access. In Colorado, minimum wage equates to less than $16,000 a year, before taxes, for individuals working full time.
