DUG’s Second Chances program promotes resource recovery to eliminate critical food-producing plants from ending up in Denver’s landfill. This program offers no-cost seedlings to DUG’s gardeners and community members to grow fresh and healthy food in their garden plots or home gardens. Organized after DUG’s Grow a Garden and Baseline Infrastructure Initiative (BII) programs, Second Chances prioritizes growers who lost plants to weather change and hard frosts, as well as beginner gardeners.
Our Impact
In 2025, we streamlined distribution, expanded volunteer support, improved signage and crowd flow, and strengthened collaboration between growers, the DUG, and community partners.
