Comprehensive Health Standards

In 2011 the Colorado Department of Education established the new Colorado Academic Standards, which includes the newly created Comprehensive Health Standards. With DUG’s emphasis on nutrition, many of our lessons hit upon these new standards.

All of the lessons listed below hit upon Standard 2: Physical and Personal Wellness in Health and primarily address the Prepared Graduate Competency: apply knowledge and skills to engage in lifelong healthy eating. The National Health Education Standard (NHES) is noted for each standard as well.

Kindergarten
Standard: GR.K-S.2-GLE.1 (Identify the major food groups and the benefits of eating a variety of foods.) NHES 1
