Making a $5 monthly gift has a big impact.

This month, we’re encouraging our community to commit to a $5 (or more) monthly donation to DUG because we all benefit when Denver Urban Gardens is around.

Envisioning a Denver without DUG is pretty bleak, and we don’t want that to happen.

However, funding has dwindles and grants have become precarious–DUG recently lost $800,00 in federal funding, which made up 2/3 of our $1.2 million grant. This was meant to support our with in Denver’s West Area to build community gardens and food forests in a part of Denver with more food deserts and less access to fresh and healthy food.

While our work is slowing down, it isn’t stopping.

We need our community to support in any way they can–$5 will make a difference!

If everyone of our 400,000 community members (i.e. who participate in or benefit from DUG programs) were to donate $5 a month, we would have enough funding to continue our work for the next 6 YEARS!

Now, if every resident in metro Denver were to give $5 a month, DUG would secure our future for the next 40 years (or more). Without support, we are at risk of not being able to support our network of green spaces where everyone benefits.

A Denver without DUG looks like:

  • an increased heat island effect in the city
  • greater food insecurity
  • a lower sense of belonging and community

…the list goes on.

We implore our community to reflect on the impact DUG has had (and continues to have) in metro Denver and help keep the work going.
