This Earth Month, our community showed up in a big way.
Thanks to an incredible group of supporters, matching partners, and donors committed to growing a greener, more resilient Denver, DUG nearly met our $20,000 Earth Month goal.
While we didn’t quite hit the full target, the impact of this campaign is something worth celebrating: hundreds of people investing in community gardens, climate resilience, food access, and environmental education across our city.
The Power of a 4X Match
This year’s Earth Month campaign centered around a powerful opportunity: every donation made could go four times as far through a special 4X match.
That momentum was made possible by generous lead gifts from:
- A $5,000 anonymous donor
- A $2,500 contribution from All at Once, the social action nonprofit founded by Jack Johnson
Together, these gifts helped amplify community donations and inspire even more supporters to give during Earth Month.
When every dollar stretches further, so does the impact.
Why Earth Month Matters at DUG
At DUG, Earth Month is about more than celebration; it’s about action.
Every gift made during this campaign supports the programs and spaces that help communities across Denver grow healthier futures, including:
- Community gardens and food forests
- Climate-resilient gardening education
- Youth programs and hands-on environmental learning
- Composting, soil health, and water-wise growing initiatives
These programs strengthen our local food system while creating more opportunities for neighbors to connect with fresh food, with nature, and with each other.
Community-Powered Impact
Campaigns like this remind us that meaningful change happens collectively.
Whether someone gave $5, $500, or shared the campaign with their community, every action helped move us closer to our goal and expanded what’s possible for DUG this growing season.
Nearly $18,000 raised means more support for:
- Garden leaders stewarding shared spaces
- Families accessing locally grown food
- Young people learning where food comes from
- Healthier soil, stronger ecosystems, and greener neighborhoods
That’s real, tangible impact, powered by community.
Thank You for Growing With Us
To everyone who donated, shared, volunteered, and championed this campaign: thank you.
Earth Month is a reminder that caring for the planet starts close to home, in our gardens, our neighborhoods, and our daily choices.
And while April may be over, this work continues year-round.
There’s still time to support DUG’s mission, get involved in a community garden, volunteer with your team, or learn more about growing food in ways that support both people and planet.
Because every seed planted, every compost pile turned, and every dollar invested helps grow a healthier Denver.
