After more than a decade of dedication to expanding and strengthening our local food systems, Brit Pimentel is moving on from DUG. Brit has been a guiding force in our work, and her leadership as Senior Director of Operations has left an indelible mark on our team, our programs, and the communities we serve.
Brit joined DUG as a volunteer in 2014 and has since built a career rooted in localizing our food system and deepening knowledge around growing food. With over 10 years of experience in food systems work, Brit has consistently championed hands-on learning, collaboration, and sustainable practices that empower growers, buyers, and communities alike. Her expertise and thoughtful leadership have helped DUG scale impact while staying true to our mission: creating a resilient, just, and local food system.
Brit holds a Master’s Degree in International Development from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. Outside of work, she brings that same curiosity to yoga, hiking, reading, and gardening with her two daughters, Willa and Indigo, and their pup, Max. A fun fact that often sparks smiles: Brit has more than 50 first cousins!
In her own words (and in the work she’s helped lead), Brit has shown what it means to be deeply invested in community, curious about how food moves from seed to table, and committed to mentoring others along the way. Her leadership has helped DUG grow roots in our region and cultivate partnerships that will outlast any one role.
As Brit embarks on her next chapter, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for her years of service, her mentorship, and the joy she brought to the DUG family. While we’re sad to see her leave, we’re excited to see where her passions and talents take her next. We know she will continue to inspire wherever she goes.
We invite colleagues, partners, and community members to share their favorite memories or well-wishes for Brit in the comments or by reaching out to her directly. Your stories remind us of the impact she’s had and the stronger food system we all share because of her work.
